Boutique Hotel Casa San Francisco in Granada Nicaragua

When sisters Terry Leary and Nancy Bergman came to Granada, Nicaragua
in 2002 on a vacation, they immediately fell under the spell of this historic city and within three days of visiting Granada they purchased the property that has since been transformed into the beautiful Boutique Hotel Casa San Francisco.

The location was the former residence of a prominent Granada family, very close to the center of the city.  Sadly, the property was in semi-ruin.  Together, the sisters developed the design for the new boutique hotel. Nancy oversaw the renovation and construction and of the project. During this time Terry was overseas working and collecting artifacts to create the look and feel for the hotel.

The owners are no strangers to foreign countries as they served in the US Peace Corps, Terry in Sierra Leone, West Africa, and Nancy in Suriname, South America. As former volunteers they are both dedicated to development of tourism, staff and city programs to improve the quality of life.

Since the owners are originally from the San Francisco Bay Area and the hotel is in the shadow of the Convent of San Francisco, it was easy to know that Casa San Francisco was the right name for the hotel. You will find that the hotel really feels like a ‘Casa’ as well.  A beautiful home away from home! Throughout their lives, Terry and Nancy have enjoyed absorbing different foreign customs and have developed the cultural sensitivity which has made Casa San Francisco a comfortable haven for all guests, no matter what their origin.

The Hotel recently acquired the property next door and is expanding. Hotel Casa San Francisco will be offering new rooms this season!  The owners and staff look forward to having you as a guest and a friend!

  • "Pintoresque boutique hotel”

Our stay at Casa San Francisco was wonderful; a perfect way to end our vacation. The location is just close enough to the central square, and the decor and ambiance is exceptional. We only stayed there one night, but the staff was kind enough to store our luggage the next day (we had a late night flight leaving Managua). During the day we stopped into the restaurant to rest our feet and enjoy happy hour (a great deal!!!), and we also relaxed there in the evening until our taxi picked us up to take us to the airport. Would recommend to anyone!

  • "Definitely recommend!”

We had only booked 1 night here but loved it so much that the next morning as we were checking out we booked to come back a week later and stayed for 3 nights. Staff were super friendly and helped organise transfers and even called us to check that we were ok when we missed our transfer as we had missed our flight. Lovely rooms, brilliant location, great rooftop terrace. Breakfast was our best in Nicaragua! Bar food really excellent too. Definitely recommend :-)
